Sharp Shooters!

So after a long 2 days we have returned home after a fantastic event at the National Scout Rifle Competition...

It was most certainly a fun couple of days! Firstly waking up to a thick frost on Saturday morning (yes it was far too early and indeed rather cold!) for a briefing at 8, we then kick started the days events with the scouts being entered into various events including the pistol, 6yd Rifle, Field target, Small bore Rifle, Knock-out and some of the leaders were able to participate in the Full bore Rifle at a distance of 300yds.

So after a hard days shooting, we all woke on Sunday to finish off some of the events we were entered for and this included the rapid progression of Ollie moving up through the leader board for the knock out event..... After hearing he was in the semi final we raced to see him continue in his bid for the title which took him all the way to the final..................So there we are all 10 of us sitting quietly on the edge of our seats watching him shoot.... 1st shot and the target was knocked down, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th knocked down, it goes on and all the time his component was catching up, but we never doubted him, fighting through the nerves he carried on...............having nearly fallen off our seats in anticipation the whistle blew and he had WON!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a fantastic result..................

Roy managed to hit all of his targets instead of his neighbours, Ed improved his mental arithmetic after spending 4.5 hours scoring shooters targets, Matt, Fergus and Janine have tired feet from marshalling for many hours and the scouts,...... well.... they all had good fun! All did exceptionally well and 1st Hook were very well represented by them.
